2012 Albia Golf Club Championship The Albia Golf Club Junior Championship was held Monday, July 23 with 29 golfers competing in nine age divisions. Mike and Gina Maddison had four boys represented in four different categories and finished the day with three champions. Tyler Maddison had the best round of the day in capturing the 14-15 age division with a 41 over nine holes. Nick Maddison and Chase Maddison went on to victory in their age divisons while Spencer Maddison finished in third place in his group. Following Tyler Maddison in the 14-15 year old boys grouping, Landon Hermsen claimed second place with a nine-hole total of 45 and Cameron Stocker was third with a 56. Matthew Starcevic had 62 and Hunter Weldon had 69. Nick Maddison edged Trent Garver over seven holes in the 12-13 age grouping. Nick shot 36 and Trent shot 38. Drew Winke was in third place with a 55 followed by Cody Kosman with a 57, Dawson Hermsen with a 62 and Garrett Gray with a 65. Ian Flahive captured the first place trophy in the 10-11 boys division with a seven hole total of 49. Jer McAninch had a 55 and Carson Stocker finished with an 83. The final Maddison first place trophy was earned by Chase Maddison in the 8-9 year old division after he fired a 25 for four holes. Cooper Hassinen followed closely behind with a 31, Payton Rubel had a 40 and David Fisher had a 46. Connor Fisher, son of The Preserve professional Darin Fisher, showed hints of some of Dad's golf prowess by claiming first place in the 6-7 year old division with a 25 over four holes. Cooper Gray finished second with a 34 and Spencer Maddison had a 38. Cael Schofield held off Cooper Bradley by two shots over four holes, shooting 37 and 39 respectively. In the girls divisons, Jade Van Polen shot an impressive 25 over four holes to gain a 10-stroke victory over Sydney DeBruin and Meghan Crall. Sydney took home the second place trophy winning a playoff, Meghan was third and Jordan Winke finished a close fourth with a 36. First year junior golfers Ella Zaputil shot 36 in four holes to win the 8-9 year old girls flight and Emma Bradley shot 39 in four holes to win the 6-7 year old girls flight. Over forty different junior golfers played two months of league play prior to the Championship.
