2006 Albia Country Club Championship The Albia Golf Club Junior Championship was held Monday, July 24 with a total of 28 golfers participating in ten divisions. Kevin Wynn was the 14-15 year old division champion with a nine hole total of 46 while Kevin Fitzpatrick defeated six other golfers in the 12-13 year old division to take home that first place trophy. Fitzpatrick completed nine holes with 45 strokes to win his title by ten shots. In a playoff for second place, Erik Schofield defeated Zach Stulentich on the first playoff hole by one shot. In the 10-11 boys age group, Drew Schofield shot a 37 over six holes to win over Zeke Murphy, who shot a 48. Tyler Maddison shot an impressive 25 over five holes to win the 8-9 year old boys division with Landon Hermsen claiming the second place trophy with a 35. Tyler's brother, Nikki, became the second family champion for the day with a 49 over six holes to defeat Dawson Hermsen. In the girls grouping, Kaitlyn Vitko was the 14-15 year old division champion with a five hole total of 41. Liz Gardner was the 12-13 year old champion with a 61 over five holes and Hannah DeBruin shot 44 over five holes to defeat Anna Riley and Ariel Lawrence in the 10-11 year old division. Another pair of family champions were crowned as Lexie Van Polen shot 42 over six holes to win the 8-9 year old girls section and Jade Van Polen shot 62 over six holes to win the 6-7 year old group. The ninth season of Junior League began the first week in June with a total of 42 junior golfers participating over the nine week season.
