2005 Albia Country Club Championship The Albia Golf Club Junior Championship was held Monday, July 18 with a total of 28 golfers participating in 11 age divisions. Nate Halbmaier won the 14-15 year old division with a nine hole total of 54. The 12-13 year old boys division provided the closest match as Kevin Wynn and Kevin Fitzpatrick were tied after nine holes with a 48. Wynn took home the first place trophy when he finally defeated Fitzpatrick by one shot on the second playoff hole. In the 10-11 boys age group, Erik Scholfield shot a 37 over five holes and narrowly defeated Zach Sulentich, who fired a 38. Jake Dye and Andrew Starcevic both shot 45. In another tight match, Colton Dorpinghaus shot 36 over four holes to win the 8-9 age grouping by one shot over Drew Schofield. Landon Hermsen shot 39 to win the boys 6-7 age division by six shots over Matthew Starcevic while Trent Garver shot 43 over three holes to defeat Cade Crall by two shots in the five and under age group. In the girls grouping, Kaitlyn Vitko shot 38 in six holes to defeat Brooke Scieszinski by six shots in the 12-13 age division. In the 10-11 age division, Liz Gardner earned the first place trophy in four holes by shooting a 38 while Anna Riley recorded a 39. Cassie Crall shot 28 in four holes in the 8-9 age grouping win by seven shots over Lexie Van Polen. Macy Lawrence won the 6-7 age group with a 37 in four holes while Jade Van Polen was awarded first place in the 5 and under group with a 58 in four holes. A total of 45 junior golfers participated in the different events held at the Albia Golf Club the past eight weeks.
