2004 Albia Country Club Championship The Albia Country Club Junior Championship was held Monday, July 19 with a total of 35 golfers participating in seven age divisions. The low 9-hole scores were posted by Austin McCoy with a 49 to win the 14-15 year old division and Kevin Wynn to win the 12-13 year old division. Nate Halbmaier defeated Logan Dorpinghaus in a playoff for second place in the 12-13 year old group after both golfers posted a 50. Kevin Fitzpatrick claimed the first place trophy with a 30 over five holes in the 10-11 year old division. Judge Dye was second with 36 strokes. Brett Leshen won the 6-9 year old group with 20 strokes over four holes. Colton Dorpinghaus won the second place trophy with a 26. In the girls division, Amy Garver finished with a 43 in five holes to defeat Kaitlyn Vitko by three shots for the 12-13 year old section. Liz Gardner won the 10 year old group with a 36 over four holes. Seven girls participated in the 6-9 year old group with Kristyn Garver claiming the first place trophy over four holes with 27 strokes. Hannah DeBruin placed second with a 31. A total of 61 golfers from five to 15 years of age competed in Junior League over the past two months which concludes Monday, July 26 with their annual "Sole Survivor" tournament. In addition, the Albia Junior Open will host some of the state's best junior golfers on Monday, August 2 at the Albia Golf and Country Club.
