2018 Albia Golf Club Championship The 21st annual Albia Junior Golf Championship was held on Monday, July 16 at Albia Country Club with 17 golfers competing in seven different age groups. In the 14-15 boys division, Cooper Hassinen shot 54 over nine holes for the victory and Connor Fisher shot 55 in nine holes to secure the 12-13 age group trophy. In the largest group, Cael Schofield shot 40 over seven holes for a convincing win as Cooper Bradley and Owen Hassinen shot 50. Bradley won the playoff on the first hole to garner the second place trophy. Following in fourth place was Carson Sohn with a 59, Kervin Veasley with a 68 and Kameron Veasley with a 75. Brody Thomas was the 8-9 year old boys champion with a 37 over four holes. Ella Zaputil prevailed in a talented 12-13 year old girls grouping by firing 35 over 5 holes. Emma Bradley shot 40 for second place followed by Lucy Hassinen with 47 and Brianna Wolfer with 53. The 10-11 year old girls grouping saw Emma Doll outlast Aubrey Fisher by eight shots as she fired a 49 over seven holes. In a close match, Audrey Zaputil won over Maddyn Sohn shooting a 44 for a three stroke victory in four holes. A total of over 20 juniors competed over seven weeks in this year's junior league.
